Project: Respawn
UNITY 6 · 2.5D ARCADE PARKOUR · LAFF TEAM

About the game
Project: Respawn is a 2.5D arcade parkour game about a lab clone that keeps respawning and finally tries to escape. The clone starts to remember pieces of its earlier lives and decides to break out of the facility. Every attempt teaches the player the course while the clone collects memories from earlier loops.
Running, sliding, vaulting, dashing and wall-running flow into one movement chain, and the calibration wheel lets you tune the clone's speed, jump, dash and air control for each course.
What we added
- Story and level plan: the story of a clone who remembers, and a seven-level plan that runs from the lab to a rainy city and up onto the rooftops.
- Subject Zero: the main character joined the game with hand-made animations and was rebuilt in more detail.
- First level, the Observation Area: rebuilt from scratch. An unavoidable trap at the start teaches that dying is useful. Scientists watch from behind glass alongside cameras and speakers, and the level ends with an exam full of surprise traps.
- New interface and look: a round calibration wheel, a calmer in-game display and an inked, comic-book look.
- Sound: music, sound effects and announcements from the facility's speakers.
- DNA economy: the points you collect turn into DNA; short lessons show how to spend it and introduce new abilities.
- Polish: new effects, animated loading screens for each level and smoother performance.
Where we are now
Our focus is the first level, the Observation Area. This term's goal is one polished level that plays from start to finish, plus a PC build; the other levels are part of the wider game plan. Some story details are still being worked out by the team.
